Reparing an asus k43s laptop - No Power
In my previous post , I talked about repairing an ASUS laptop and mentioned that there was a short on the +3VA rail. I explained that I was trying to locate the short, which was a challenging task for me since I'm new to the realm of circuit board repairs. The technique I used involved injecting +1V into the +3VA rail and allowing current to flow, starting at 250mA and gradually increasing it. I checked the components by feeling them with the tip of my finger to identify any heat buildup. I know this method isn't the most professional, but since I don’t have a thermal camera or other advanced diagnostic tools, I had to rely on this approach. As I increased the current, I reached around 750mA, and the power chip on the motherboard started to get slightly warm, though it wasn’t very noticeable. I then cranked the current up to around 950mA, which was the maximum current my power supply could handle. At this point, the power chip became significantly hotter. Using my hot air stati...
